Is it wrong to put your children in a fruit cage?

31 January, 2010

This is a real test for me, not the actual doing the weight loss trial but the ache I can feel in my conscience, maybe it will sit better as it goes on, but I really want to lose weight with out sellingout to corporates and fads.  I've been losing weight over the past 6 months purelyby moving more and not eating as much crap, sorry, food that's not really that good for you!!  In the 6 months I've lost enough weight to go from a size 22/24 to a size 16/18.

Through the blog I was approached by a company asking me to do a free weight loss trial for 28 days, I will be blogging about it as the days go on as a kind of on the hoof report.  They will provide my meals for the next 28 days, plus a consultant, advice and support 24/7

So it was with with mixed emotions that I sorted the food into meal groups (and alphabetised them - I am a Virgo and yes all labels are facing out!) and started my weight loss trial a couple of days ago.  I feel like I'm letting YOU down as I want lose this weight "normally" without joining clubs/drinking potions/measuring out everything/popping pills (mainly because I've tried them all and there is nothing else TO try).  However, I want to lose weight and if this has to be part of my journey, then so be it.

3 things I have learnt today, well, confirmed at least:  1) Pre weight loss trial I thought I was not eating enough and this has confirmed it.  I was eating around 1200 calories a day, I'm now eating 1500. Previously I had 3 meals and no snacks, I now have 3 meals and 3 snacks.

2)  My portion sizes have been too big, I've been either trying to put all the above in 3 meals then been hungry at night and either grumped or eaten one of the kids - or I've over-faced myself with food and then carried on eating to the point where its uncomfortable.

3) Why is fruit so expensive!!  I knew I didn't eat enough and after shopping yesterday, I realise why.  And when you live with a family of locust, you have to be quick to get any!!  DS3 is a very picky eater but today he has had 2 bananas, 2 apples, strawberries and huge dirty look of me!!

So I'm freegle-ing for a poly tunnel and fruit cage to keep the birds and the kids away from this summers harvest from the garden as growing it has to help cut the costs down.
