Can I lose weight by calorie counting?

And do I care!!  LOL  I have tried every diet in the book, even tried to eat the book once.  Then I went to a dietitian and they said move more.  After I stopped laughing I said no!  How can I move any more than I do already?  This, by the way was 3 stone ago.

You see, I was a very busy mum, childminder and foster carer.  With kids coming out of my ears, school runs, park runs and shopping runs - how - realistically could I fit it all in?

Well the answer to that was I didn't because I didn't understand the very simple maths.  Nor was I ready to give up the excuses, after all, that's what they all were, excuses.  Saying that I couldn't do more was an excuse, not going for a walk was an excuse, not playing a physical game with the kids for longer was an excuse, all because I thought I would have to give up what I like most - food!  And do what I liked the least - move more!!

But then I started to go out 5 or 10 minutes earlier to collect the kids from school and pop a little walk in.  Then, I'd throw another one in for 20 mins later on in the evening.  If I couldn't get out - I'd dance a little longer with the kids.  I didn't join a gym as time and pennies where not permitting but I did buy some hand weights and started doing 15 mins here or there whilst watching biggest loser!!

Then last July I bought Roger and he and I have become close - I've lost 3 stone and now I need to do - well - more!!  I've started bike riding and I'm using the hand weights more and even throwing the occasional sit up in!!

So the actual answer to the above is yes. An average female needs 2,000 calories per day and male 2,500 calories. Theoretically, to lose 1lb per week you would need to reduce your usual calorie intake by approximately 500 calories per day - preferably through a mix of banking - sorry - of eating less and exercising more. (read my previous blog re the banking bit)

I'm going to blog more about the calorie intake thingy and also attempt to fit a minimum of 2 hours a day training in - how - I'm not sure - but I'm going to shoe horn as much as I can in and have 1 or days off to get my breath back!!

Thus far today I have run 1 mile from school to a friends and back again - time 10 mins, so only another 110 mins to go!! 123.6 calories used - 376.4 to use....
