What a question!! All depends whats in it really as in what its made up of as in carbs, fats, proteins - their calorie values all vary per gram.
Carbohydrates have 4 calories per gram.
Fat has 9 calories per gram.
Protein has 4 calories per gram.
So for example a yummy crisp apple has 30 calories and an even yummier bag of crisps has around 180 calories!! So no fair!!
Our arch enemy, Fat has more than double the number of calories per gram than either protein or fat. So foods high in fat will have far higher calorie content and therefor stick your ass like glue.
And guess what?! Calories from fat are more easily stored as fat by the body than calories from carbohydrates. How did that design flaw get in?? We no longer need to keep warm like cave men and though we've evolved and got rid of stuff like our appendix et al (well nearly), we have rather stupidly hung on to our ability to store fat as, well fat!!
So its not rocket science really is it, reducing your fat intake will reduce the size of your hips, probably! Look, if you're fat, why eat fat? Its like feeding a pig a sausage roll - don't do it - its not right!!
And while your feeling down, here's a swift kick to your soft bits - though alcohol doesn't contain fat, it's loaded with calories at a whopping 7kcals per gram. Add in juices, mixers and peanuts, cake, buffet food and your really gonna bang the weight on!!
And for you young slim things, don't be smug - as the calories will come and hunt you down. Just when you least expect it all the Alcopops you have EVER consumed will pay you a long long visit. They are a sweet pool of hidden calories, a typical bottle containing 160 calories. The best thing, in fact your only hope is to keep dancing and wear those calories off!!
Non alcoholic beer has actually the same amount of calories as an average pint around 190 calories. If your tipple is white wine, choose dry as it has few calories than sweet with an average 116 calories per 175ml glass.
