Weight loss tips – keep your old trousers

12 June, 2010

I was riffling through my wardrobe the other morning and came across and pair of trousers I wore last summer. Normal, bog standard 3/4 length black trousers, slightly stretchy which I thought I looked good in, well OK to be seen in public in!!  I'd worn them the year before but then gotten too big for them - we moved house last year and with all the lifting, shifting and sorting the huge back garden, I managed to shift 7lb and thus squeeze back into them.   I actually felt at a comfortable weight!  How wrong was I???

Last yrs pants!

So picture the scene, typical school day morning, riots going on over who's making what for their packed lunch, 3 boys stood arguing over cheese, ham or cous cous salad. BB in the back ground hunting out swimming goggles and a large piece of paper for one of the kids to draw a map on (school/home work!)

I'm now stood in the kitchen holding the trousers up to myself when I suddenly realised it was very quiet.  All eyes are on me, I can't speak as I look down at the gap where my waist used to be.  BB takes the pic here and I feel sick.  How could I have felt comfy being that big?  When I fold the pants over one thigh width could fit my waist!  The boys start to buzz again and ask me to put them on, but I can't.  DS1 tries to take a pic with his phone and tells me to get in one leg, DS3 comes over for a cuddle and comments how he can get his arms around me.  BB is smiling taking headache tabs in case he needs them later, nudge nudge, wink wink.  DS2 looks at me with eyes saying we all knew you could, only YOU didn't.

BF said later in the day when I shared the picture with her, "Remember that next tine you're feeling impatient"  And she's right.  I hope you learn as much from my blog as I am writing it and reflecting on my weight loss, I've not finished yet - so please,  take inspiration and motivation, take advice and take tips, but mostly, take your old pants with you to your new life, I will.
